Pre-driving

Pre-driving is often used to penetrate hard fills or stiff soil layers located close to the ground surface. The objective of this method is to drive a heavy steel profile or joist section through the stiff soil layer in order to preform a hole. Thereafter the pile is installed in a conventional method. This method may result in extraction difficulties and possible overstraining of the pile rig.
