With due respect that I am a student I am working on behaviour of completely decomposed granite. I have done several drained and undrained tests on CDG specimens in triaxial and plane strain conditions. the specimens were recompacted with 95% of Max. dry density. as it was expected that the specimens would dilate within few % of strains. but in all of my experiments i did not get dilation... and the specimens go to contractive in nature. the cell pressures i used is 100-400 kPa for isotropic consolidation and the condition of tests were saturated. I was searching the possible reasons for this unusal behaviour and read many of your papers. The crushing of partical during shearing in such a low pressure may occur to show this behaviour? Can you please consider this and suggest me the possible reasons of this discrepency? it should be mentioned here that the density was controled carefully. I am looking forward for your kind recommendations as you have done lot of works on partical crushing.
