Subject: Plane strain - Minimum z dimension

  Dear friends,

To apply plane strain analysis, only x and y strain are calculated while we take advantage of long dimension in z direction to assume strain at z direction =0. However, may i know what is the minimum z dimension (say in z/b, to eliminate dimension effect) is needed? For example, what is the minimum length of retaining wall, so that plane strain analysis valid?

Thanks.
