Dear geotechnical friends:
The Problem I need to build a retaining wall (shoring) 10 m deep with no anchors as this is next to an utility tunnel and installations. I understand that steel piles have been used for this purpose somewhere in Asia, but I haven’t been able to find anything related to it.
The strata: From 0 to 8 m is composed clay with N-SPT ranging from 10 to 12 followed by sand from 8 to 12 m, with N-SPT from 18 to 40, and finally a clay till with sand layers with N-SPT >50.
I appreciate any feedback on this issue.
Jose Teres
Note: Diaphragm walls are not an option as contractors are not available in the area.
