I am currently using PLAXIS 8 (standard version, not dynamic or 3d) for a spudcan analysis. In theory, FEM will not work for a large displacement problem thus PLAXIS will prompt soil body collapse. I just wonder if its a valid solution to re-run the PLAXIS with updated geometry again and again(i.e with new deformed geometry like heaving of the soil, again and again until we find a solution that is stable. As for the large displacement soil in the updated geometry, we use a remolded/reconstructed parameters for the mention soil).

Any comment on my idea????

Thanks in advance
