dear sir/madam
i am seeing a peculiar plot for shear strain vs time, near the surface of the ground, while simulating harmonic loading(at base) on a soil mass with bed rock at bottom and lateral free-field boundaries. the shear strain in soil is first increasing with time and then decreasing considerably. when soil is loaded further, again it is increasing, with some permanent set(irrecoverable strain).can any one answer how strain is recovered when the loading is harmonic and is continuous?is it a simulation fault or is it obvious.if obvious, can anyone explain me the reason. thanking you regards ram
