Hi I am a student studying construction management. I have to give a brief presentation explaining SHEET PILES. I understand the basic ideas of piles but can not differentiate between all piles sytems. Q: Are all sheet piles steel? Are they all 'driven'? What can they be driven into? What are possible uses beside cofferdams and earth containment for permanent construction?
Just a general kind of overview would be great. thank you nick conti conti_nia@ccsu.edu

I suggest that for a general overview, you can visit Pile Info, which is part of Geoforum. Go do System Info and from there to sheet piles...
You can also search in the text by Prof. Broms (Knowledge) or download the trial version of the book by Prof. Hansbo.
Another valuabel source of information can be the Market Guide - search for sheet piles and you will get a long list of information providers.
If this is not sufficient, please contact me for more detailed information.

Rainer Massarsch
