if so, could you chare some knowledge regarding safety - particularly with regards to de-rigging the machine ready for transporting - the main winch ropes have to be stowed on top of the folded mast - when the operatives have to get the ropes up there, they are vulnerable to the risk of injury from falling as there is no fixing point for a fall arrest harness - does any one have an alternative method or a safety tip for this specific operation?
The problem of safe access onto the top of a horizontal mast is not limited to just the Soilmec CM48 rigs, but this difficulty of safe access may be experienced with many of the larger piling rigs, particularly those with dual modes of operation which require different connections to the rotary table. I instigated the filling of a patent application for a neat solution accepted by the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) in the UK which overcomes many of these difficulties and provides a safe and secure method for working at any location along a horizontal mast. In effect it can be summarised as a purpose built zimmer frame arrangement which attaches to the mast and can move with the operator. Please contact me directly if you require further details.
