Currently undertaking a project on the shaft resistance of bored (CFA and rotary) and DCIS piles in chalk. Does anyone have any pointers or studies they have undertaken in the nature of the interface between the pile and chalk boundary???

Information gratefully received at the above e-mail address.

  Yes,

Some bored piles installed into limestone with axial load transfer measurements noted in Bustamante & Gianeselli 1980, Bulletion 107 by Laboratories des Ponts et Chaussees.
An excellent review on properties of "The Chalk" including foundation summaries given by Clayton, Matthews, & Heymann in Characterization & Engineering Properties of Natural Soils (2003), Swets & Zeitlinger/Balkema.

Sincerely

Paul
