Does any one know if directional drilling has be used to obtain rock cores and soil samples for geotechnical engineering purposes?
Also is there a subcontract drilling company who performes these services.
I am considering using directional drilling to explore the route of a tunnel, where the surface is not available for vertical soil borings.
Thanks Tom

I doubt that alot of DD contractors have DD samplers. But you may wish to contact Dr. Allouche at UWO, he was just at the International No-Dig 2003 conference speaking about some of his horizontal soil sampler. He may know of a contractor or, has a contractor he has used in his field tests.
