Any comment is greatly appreciated. I've got my ph.d. in the field of geotechnical engineering last year from a well-known university in Canada. After a year, I have not been able to find a job in this field. Could somebody advise me what to do.

There is currently a shortage of geotechnical engineers in Great Britain. The government has recently relaxed requirements for people from outside the European Union. For example there are lots of Australian & NZ engineers here working on short term contracts. Look on web sites such as www.careersinconstruction.com, www.jared.co.uk, www.anderselite.com, www.bbt.co.uk. I used to work for a Canadian firm with a UK office, Golder Associates - look at www.golder.com.
