Any comment is greatly appreciated. I've got my ph.d. in the field of geotechnical engineering last year from a well-known university in Canada. After a year, I have not been able to find a job in this field. Could somebody advise me what to do.

AL; I hope by now you got a job; But you are (i hope were) in the same position a few years ago as i were; The @%$! jerks at the university told me how much geotech was needed and it was a sought after field and the pay $$ (" ")..Blah blah..., Well a year and a half after grad school and $00.00 from this piece of %$#@, and once got the %$#@% job in gotech...I had to cater to high school dropout contractors or squeaky clean Archi –choke (with only B.S for crying out load).. well the structural guys were not too bad...but you see my point..., you know i pondered the fact of suing the @#$% department, my advisor, and the whole #$%@ school. But by then i got a better job in geotech...I Still think it stinks that these guys push you toward something that is not secure unless you kiss some Exa Giga Ass to keep your job... unless your teaching in some college...so you can advice the next sucker to do what you did...LOL.
Hey good luck, it is not all that bad , really, you are going to look back and laugh/cry at the whole thing. Definitely, it is an interesting job; you get to do many different things, including different styles of ass kissing techniques, and go out to the field when it is nice and sunny... but always be at the bottom of the pile. We are the folks with a lot of education that kiss up to some $#@% ass#@$% with no education; and the only reason uses initials for his company's name is just because he can't spell the whole damn thing, and with a lot of money and some luck... Yeah Rock ON ..., and thank you for let me whine... ...Sorry my dear colleagues ….the good news is geotech beats working for your wife doing landscape work…. Oh…By far….. …do not get me started on that.. subject..
Good Luck Dude.. i hope i cheered you up...
