I'm presuming that the program UniSettle 3.0, produced by Unisoft Ltd, will be adequate to assist in the analysis of the ring-type foundation option for a large, pedestal type water tank. Is there any feedback on the use of this program for this purpose?
I'm also interested in hearing about the success (and failures) of various foundation analysis techniques and designs associated with pedestal type water towers. Any insight or lessons learned out there?
Thanks!

Yes, the UniSettle program is more than adequate for calculating settlement of a ring foundation (as well as any other shape of foundation). The program can be used to determine the stresses and settlements below an arbitrarily chosen point of a ring foundation placed at or at any depth below the ground surface. Stress distribution options are by Boussinesq or Westergaard methods. Soil can be layered and pore pressure can be non-hydrostatic. The influences of adjacent, new or existing, foundations, embankment fills, and/or excavations can be included in the analysis. Output is shown in tables and graphics. Please, visit www.unisoftltd.com to learn about the program.
